About the event
Join Whale Guard in our Citizen Science Aerial Right Whale Spotter Tours. Aerial observation is an important tool for Right Whale research, as it offers a much wider vantage point than shore spotting. Up until now, aerial observation has only been done only by formal researchers, but we want you to join the adventure! By observing and photographing North Atlantic Right Whales, we are helping shipping vessels avoid them— preventing accidental boat strikes from happening. We will also use the photos to see if entanglement has occurred and share the location and information with rescue teams. All information will be shared with the right whale spotter network hotline, 1 888-979-4253. We recommend calling this number if you spot a whale from shore as well.
